As far as I can remember, I’ve always had a strong fascination and love for cartoon and comic arts, which is what I studied at Staffordshire University. Before changing courses, I completed my first year of Computer Animation Arts at Bournemouth University, where I was introduced to software's such as Maya and Mudbox. I love to experiment and see the development of ideas, watching them form into finished pieces.
What I believe is important in creating stories and art, is to create stories an audience can escape to, having character relationships and situations that are relatable and extract sentiment from the audience. A lot of my philosophies and morals have not only been taught through experiences of life, but through a lot of my childhood influences such as cartoons, animated/ tv series, movies and comics. I’ve learnt a lot through fictional characters, though they don’t exist as a whole, they are the embodiment of ideas all sown together by either a team of people or the work of an individual's mind. I’ve grown up with ambition and goals to work alongside others with similar mindsets, to be able to contribute important aspects and ideas through themes and essences. The thought of being part of something that had such impact throughout my years of development as a person is nostalgic and what drives my motivation.
My parents said that ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve always drawn. I started off drawing western cartoons, mostly influenced by Disney films. When I was eight I found my brother's VHS tape of a Street fighter movie, I was in awe, this ‘cartoon’ was so adult; it had violence and swearing. Definitely not something I’d ever seen. Cartoons could be anything. This has been what’s driven me to want to keep drawing and story creating, because when you put lead to paper, who knows what will develop next. The possibilities are limitless, you could create something never done before!
